FOB – What It Means

"FOB" (Free On Board) is a key international trade term. It defines when ownership and shipping responsibility transfers from seller to buyer. In a typical FOB agreement:

  • Bradshaw handles all costs and arrangements until the container is loaded onto the ship at the origin port.
  • From that point, the buyer assumes responsibility, including ocean freight, customs, duties, and inland delivery.

This method gives buyers more control and transparency, especially when consolidating shipments or managing freight directly.
