Classic Gas Lift Bed – Timeless Looks, Hidden Storage
This beautifully crafted gas lift bed blends traditional design with smart functionality. Made from solid oak and oak veneer, it features a warm natural finish and an elegant, Ornate Style, diamond-tufted headboard in soft oatmeal fabric with fluted detailing for a refined, classic feel.
Beneath the bed, a gas lift mechanism opens to a storage base, ideal for spare bedding, pillows, or seasonal items. Instead of slats, this version features a solid gas lift frame with durable floorboards, providing a stable and supportive surface. The bed also includes 2 x USB-A/C charging ports built into the frame for added convenience.
In addition, All Dorset beds are supplied with removable internal cleats. This allows the bed frame to be used with adjustable bed frames that can be placed inside the Dorset frame (dependent upon the adjustable bed dimensions)
The matching bedside table, tallboy and dresser offer generous storage with framed drawer fronts and understated Antique dark metal handles. The dresser includes a large matching mirror, completing the look.
A practical choice that doesn’t compromise on style.

About the Natural Characteristics of Oak
Oak is a genuine hardwood, valued for its strength, beauty, and timeless character. As a natural material, no two pieces are ever exactly the same. Each board carries its own grain patterns, tones, and markings — the hallmarks of real timber rather than a manufactured surface.
You may notice knots, natural colour variations, fine cracks, or the light-and-dark “tiger stripe” effect. These aren’t imperfections but authentic features formed as the tree grew. The “tiger stripe” or “ray flecking” appears when medullary rays, fine ribbons of fibre within the grain, are revealed, especially in quarter-sawn oak. This is a prized characteristic known for its shimmer and depth.
To minimise unnecessary timber wastage and to remain aligned with our environmental sustainability standards, some components may be made using laminated solid oak sections. This is a traditional woodworking technique where multiple pieces of solid oak are joined together to form a wider, stronger, and more stable panel. It prevents large portions of the log from being discarded, reduces cost pressure, and ensures better structural performance over time, especially on larger surfaces that naturally expand or contract.
Laminated solid sections are still real timber, simply used in a more responsible and efficient way.
These natural variations and construction methods are part of genuine oak furniture and contribute to the individuality of every piece. They highlight the authenticity of the timber and ensure each product is truly one-of-a-kind.
